Mr. Douglas K. Beery

Vocal Director

In his fifth season, Mr. Beery is the Director of Vocal Music in the Massillon City School District.  Mr. Beery directs the Advanced Choir, Men's Chorus and team-teaches the Freshman Choir.  His duties also include working with the show choir, the Washingtonians.  In addition, Mr. Beery serves as the Music Director for the annual Broadway Musical.  Mr. Beery earned a Bachelor in Music Education from Capital University and a Masters of Choral Conducting from The Ohio State University.  His conducting teachers have included Dr. Lynda Hasseler, Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt and Mr. James Gallagher.  Choral groups under Mr. Beery's direction have earned numerous superior ratings.  In addition to his duties at Washington High School, Mr. Beery is an active member of the Ohio Music Education Association and the American Choral Directors Association.  He serves as an adjudicator for OMEA, and has served as region chair for All-State Choral Directors on serveral occasions.  Mr. Beery is also on the music staff at St. Paul's Luthern Church in Massillon, Ohio.
